Mike Gayle also has a Myspace and in his blog there you can find the first chapter of Wish You Were Here. Looks great.
Soon enough the movie season will be over, in fact since only leftover crap and the occasional blockbuster is released we can easily say that's been over for a while. In a few weeks my favourite radio show about the silver screen (it's Secondavisione from Radio Città del Capo here in Bologna) will run its annual end-of-year gala and I will be in jeopardy when asked for the best movie of the year.
So far, it's difficult to pick one, especially because I haven't seen any great one this year - I have yet to see Zodiac by the way. Just running in the category of "good" I would vote for Children of Men, good concept and some great directing. Runner ups the indie favourite Little Miss Sunshine and the Italian film Mio fratello è figlio unico.
Worst movie of the year? The Break-Up, hands down.
I was checking my Gmail account which I use for my personal email,
while I have other accounts for my main projects. The Spam folder,
automatically cleaned up after a month, holds around 30,000 messages
meaning 1,000 pieces of spam a day...
The arms of Sir George Martin, the legendary Beatles producer, are decorated with beetles and with the motto, in Latin, All you need is love!
Austrian folks like to start early, so the site for YAPC::EU::2007 (aka Yet Another Perl Conference, Europe) has been launched today. Conference will take place in Vienna, 29th to 31st August 2007. See you there!
The integration between Vox and Amazon (.com or .co.uk or others) for
books and records is quite good and it's good to have the usual
goodies of cover art, recommendations etc. However, one thing that
could be improved is letting users set their one associate program
code. This way all traffic generated on the blog would lead to the
usual referee fees (they are small, but hey) as it happens in old
roll-our-own blogs. Otherwise some people may go back to text or
graphic links that embed their own associate ids.
Currently all outgoing are marked for 'multonty-21' which is probably
part of the deal between Amazon.co.uk and Vox.

I've been a long time fan of Ben and Mena's work and I regularly use Movable Type for various project. So I was very curious to check on this new project, even when it was code-named Comet. Last but not least, I understand it's built using my preferite Perl tool recently, the Catalyst framework. So it's kind of a family thing!
I am impressed, it obviously goes in the direction of social software sites but with a solid and coherent structure behind. The only (possible) gripe would be if it's too close as a platform, allowing information to be shared only internally or from "registered" sites (flickr, Amazon.com, etc.) I haven't managed yet to link to my old, stable, weblog running Movable Type 2.
I cannot but start with that old favourite from Slashdot in another century: First Post.
